Background: Hobson & Porter (H&P) is a family owned building contractor based in Kingston-upon-Hull. Like many businesses in the building industry, H&P finds itself increasingly asked to demonstrate its local economic development credentials. A regional framework contract required every bidder to supply three case studies demonstrating the bidder's ability to contribute to the local economy.

Objective: Produce three case studies that clearly demonstrate H&P's ability to promote local economic development through both its supply chain and labour force using a clear measurement methodology.

Process: Identified three case studies that reflected different aspects of the regional framework--supply chain, labour, and skills--and applied the LM3 model to each project to generate a clear local multiplier figure.

K2A: H&P can use these case studies to market themselves in other contexts, better competing with other building companies.
